Effect of resistance training volume on strength and muscle thickness

    Introduction

This research study aimed to observe the effects of different levels of resistance training on a subject’s strength and muscle thickness. The subject engaged in different training exercises using MedX medical machines to increase their strength. There was significant improvement in the subjects’ strength that is displayed in the study.

    Summary

Resistance training and rehabilitation play vital roles in addressing various muscle groups and injuries, offering targeted treatment approaches. The efficacy of these interventions hinges on factors such as exercise intensity, frequency, and volume, which collectively determine the level of resistance training. Recognized as a potent method for enhancing muscle strength, resistance training has garnered considerable attention for its therapeutic benefits. The recent study aimed to assess the impact of training volume on several key factors, including range of motion, muscle extension and flexion, and muscle thickness.

Initially comprising 59 subjects, the study saw 48 participants completing the full duration. The training regimen consisted of sessions held three times weekly over a period of 14 weeks, utilizing advanced MedX Medical machines to evaluate knee joint range of motion. Muscle thickness was also measured both before and after the study to gauge changes over time.

Significantly, the results indicated a notable increase in isometric strength across the tested muscle groups post-training. Interestingly, this improvement was consistent across both genders, highlighting the effectiveness of the training irrespective of gender differences. However, due to some participants not undergoing post-study muscle thickness measurements, the reported changes in muscle thickness were comparatively modest. While further research is needed to observe the impact on muscle thickness, the study concludes that resistance training is a tool for enhancing torque output and improving overall muscle strength.
